Food in spanish

This app is definitely different to all others I created before with Mobincube. All previous apps were created in minutes, just to show you that it is possible to earn money with apps created fast. Some of them even in 3 or 4 hours, like "Spanish Press" or "Thailand News", since it took time to collect all RSS feeds.

Well, some of those apps are working quite good a making me earn money. Like "Multiplication tables" that took me 10 minutes to create and has brought me more than $150 already in 4 months. But this time I decided to invest much more time to create a more complex app. Well, the app was easy to create with Mobincube. But it took me some time to collect and process all the pictures, food names, etc.

The app is a photo-dictionary of food in spanish with more than 300 words and their pictures. It is supposed to be useful for people traveling to Spain, so that they can get some help at a restaurant if they don't get the menu in their native language. This app uses the new functionality of Mobincube that lets you create databases. This functionality could have saved me some time in other apps. For example, the "Boy Scout Songs". I wouldn't need to create a different screen for each song. Just one database with all songs and one screen that works as a database template. So I'll use this functionality often in the future.

The App is not 100% finished. I still have to add pictures for some words (20, more or less) and I think I will add more words.

I changed the name of this App in GooglePlay (previous name was "Eat in Spain"), since it seemed the old name didn't get a good positioning or people didn't understand the content of the app by the name.

Spanish press

Like I did with "Thailand News", I created an App based on RSS feeds. This time I collected the main daily newspaper from Spain and created an App showing their RSS feeds arranged by categories. There are some Apps in GooglePlay that gather RSS feeds from press and they make thousands of downloads. All of them are just links to the home sites of those media.

But my App shows the headers of the news, so that the user can read it and just browse to the full article in case they find it interesting.

Let's see if it works and brings downloads and money to me.

Thailand News

This App gathers some of RSS feeds from the main news companies from Thailand, so that people can have a quick access to Thai news and link to the original article in case they want to read more. Why Thailand? Well... I realized that 30% of downloads my Apps are doing come from that country, specially the ones that offers "learning english lessons". Then I decided to create an App for the Thai market, just to check if I can make even more downloads in that country.

An also, I wanted to try if RSS Apps can make good downloads. I find it useful myself to read RSS feeds when I walk to my office, so maybe there is more people that like this kind of Apps. If it makes good moneys in Thailand, I will customize this kind of App for lots of countries, so that I can buy a new car  :)

Aesop's Fables

Another type of App, since the content is different, but really similar in structure to other Apps I created before, like "Boy Scout Songs". This App shows a set of micro-books, each one of them contains a Fable from Aesop, the ancient greek story-teller.

Well... I'm not sure if people will look for this kind of content, but it was really fast to create, so it worths that half an hour it took me if I can make $1 per month.

Well... there a a lot of Aesop's Fables. But I didn't include all of them in order to save time. It would take me 2 or 3 hours in add all fables. So I included just 20. And in case the App makes good downloads I will update the App adding volumes of 20 fables.

B.O.E.

This is quite a different App from others I created before. This time I'm using online data in the App to offer updated content everyday, thanks to the RSS screens that offers Mobincube. Basically the App is a number of menu screens for arranging chapters and they allow the user to connect to RSS feeds.

This App targets the spanish market, since it basically collects all the RSS feeds of the Official Spanish Government News Bulletin. This will let me check if it is easier to get positioned in a local market than worldwide.

Numbers in Spanish

A new version of the App Numbers, but this time in spanish. Creating the App was fast. The part that took me more time was creating the list of words. Well... since I'm a spanish native speaker, this time was fast. But it will take some extra time for me in future versions in french, italian, german, etc.

Since I created this App just after the english version, I still don't know if this kind of Apps will succeed. But I preferred to launch both versions together, just to compare what language gets more positioned in Google Play.

X TO THE POWER OF Y

I really believe that creating this App was a waste of time when I decided to build it. Anyway, since I only needed 10 minutes to create it, I decided to do it just to see if I'm as lucky as I was with the App Multiplication Tables. Basically it is the same kind of App, but I added a screen with links to other Apps of mine. Just to see if at least I can make some people to download other Apps and increase their revenues.

Numbers in English

This is another simple App with one menu and two screens showing a text. In this case, the menu lets the user decide if getting a list of cardinal numbers or a list of ordinal numbers. Then, the next screen shows a list with a number and how to write in english. Quite simple, uh?

I really believe that this App can bring me some money in case it gets positioned in Google Play. And, since this App can be created quite fast, I will create the same App in other languages: spanish, french, italian, japanese, etc.

Times in English

An easy App for learning english basics: how to tell the time. The App was easy to create, as always. The hardest part was to create te pictures of the clocks. As in other Apps, I created the pictures with Inkscape, the free vector graphics tool.

They created a new design element in Mobincube which let users to create nicer Apps using tables in DetailScreens. Well, I decided to use this new element to create a wide horizontal scroll, so that people using this App can select among 12 different clocks showing a different time.

Below that I put some explanation regarding 24-hour clocks, taken from Wikipedia. And I also inserted another table showing 12 to 24 hour conversion.

In case this App can make 3 or 4 dolars per month, I will make the same App for other languages.

USA states and capitals

A simple list showing the name, short code and capitals of the states of the United States of America. It is too simple, but maybe some parents want they children to learn this list. I'm planning to create another App regarding states, but with more content. But yesterday I wanted to create a fast App in 10 minutes for the US market.

USA Constitution

This App shows the full text of the Constitution of the United States of America, arranged by articles, sections and amendments. It is a quite simple App. For this App, I decided to use different headers in the App, so every section has its own header. Anyway, it didn't take me too much time to finish this App, maybe 30 minutes.

There are some other Apps in GooglePlay about the USA constitution. Some of them have 100K or 500K downloads already. I don't think that's a reasson for not having downloads for my App. Instead, I think that there are a lot of users looking for the USA constitution, so I might have some success with this App. It happened so with the App "Multiplication Tables": there were several Apps in GooglePlay when I launched it, but anyway my App is rocking downloads.

I published the App in GooglePlay. I didn't choose this date on purpose, didn't realize that tomorrow is a sad day for the states. Anyway, it is not a bad idea to take benefit of the dates or world events to launch Apps that can be related to them.

Boy Scout Songs

This simple App contains a collection of the most popular Boy Scout Songs of America. It was really simple to create, but it took more time than other Apps that I've created before, since it has quite more screens: one screen for the main menu and 28 screens for the songs. To be faster, I don't create song screen from scratch each time. I invested the time in dessigning the first song's screen, then I cloned it 27 times, then opened each of them and just change the text of all text elements.

Doing so, I don't need to create all element text and set theis style. When you clone a screen, it clones not only the content but also its properties.

At the end, it took me an hour to finish this App: 2 minutes per each screen.

I also added a cross-promotion screen. Basically an info screen where I added info of other Apps I created to help them make more downloads.

So, if I earn $30 with this App and cause other Apps to increase their revenue, I'll be proud of it.
